Introduction
HELP Himalaya under several discussions with its dignified members came up with this unique project mainly based on alleviating the problems seen with water borne diseases seen mainly in the students of various schools in Pokhara. We would humbly like to present this unique one-dollar project specially for providing safe and filtered water for students of different schools in Nepal. With only one dollar donation from your side you can provide filtered germ free water up to one thousand students in each school. Can you believe it? You have to see to believe it.
Present Water Condition
The condition of drinking water system in almost 90% of the schools in Pokhara Nepal is found to be unsafe and unfiltered as per survey done by our team a month ago. The main cause of different stomach diseases like diahorrea, dysentery, cholera and typhoid seen in the students frequently is all due to the absence of proper filtering system with the water in the schools as people do not have the habit of boiling water for drinking. It's very difficult for the students to avoid drinking the only source, which is directly from the tap and is not filtered containing various types of disease causing germs. People even do not have proper knowledge about sanitation due to low literacy level in Nepal.
Objectives
Our main objective in this project is to decrease the percentage of students and children dying of water borne diseases in our country every year. In the beginning we have targeted five selected school with worst drinking water facility. We would like to build a special type of water filter for each school which costs only about NRS 10,000 (US$ 133). This filter will have the capacity to provide 24Hrs. germ free filtered water to about 1000 students in each school.
